Porcelain is the most popular modern choice — hard, colour-stable and easy to clean. Natural stone (sandstone, limestone, granite) is warmer and more textured but needs sealing and can weather over time. Concrete flags are cost-effective and work well on larger areas. A patio that stays level

Most patios that fail fail at the base, not the slab. We dig out to full depth, lay a Type 1 MOT sub-base, compact it properly, and bed slabs on a wet mortar mix with primer so they bond. Falls are set away from the house, edges are restrained, and drainage is tied in where there is any risk of water sitting. That is the bit most customers don't see but is the reason our patios don't sink, rock or push up.
